Whanau Camp 2023

$115 for Adults, $80 for Kids, and Under 5’s free.

The vision for Whanau Camp is for it to be a fun weekend for all ages.

An opportunity for the whole of our Diocese Whanau to gather together for food, fun, input and worship!

Structure of the weekend

The weekend will begin with registration at 3.00 pm on Friday 24 March, followed by a sausage sizzle, an intro and some games.  The camp finishes after lunch on Sunday, 26 March, and people are free to leave any time in the afternoon they want.

There will be a guest speaker for two-morning plenary sessions and focused children’s sessions run by Diocese-approved children’s workers.  There will also be a variety of worship styles included in that time, from family-style liturgy to a live band.

The whole camp will be quite informal, deliberately designed to encourage connectedness and relationship across the Diocese.  In the afternoons will have a variety of games and activities on offer.  As well as space for walks, lounging in the sun or playing in the park etc.!

Extra activities

Tui Ridge Park also offers extra activities that can be ordered beforehand for an extra fee, things like climbing or zip lines etc.  Please make sure you ask about this when booking.

Accommodation

We have booked a whole section at Tui Ridge primarily for camping, so you will need to bring your own camping equipment!  This will be tents or caravans and camper vans.  There are electrical hook-up options for people with caravans or camper vans.  There are ablution blocks close by.  If you don’t have camping equipment, don’t let this hold you back; ask around at your friends or church, as people are often able to lend this out!  It is a chance to try something new!

Food

Your camp fee includes lunches, sandwich style, chips, fruit, cakes etc.  The evenings will be BBQ with salads and bread (with gluten, dairy and vege free options).  Campers will have to bring their own breakfasts, which can be eaten in tents or in our communal dining areas.  There will be a 24-7 coffee/tea station and a tuck shop selling soft drinks, chocolates and sweets.

Come and join us and bring some friends.  Even families that are not so used to Church will enjoy this time.  It promises to be a great place to meet new people and make lifelong friends.
